We have so much to be thankful for in 2008, our list could just go right out the door and down the street! This year there were so many people who touched our lives in so many ways through their overflowing love and support. We always have felt loved by our family and friends and we feel so fortunate for that. This year we felt that love and support a hundred times over. We have had an incredible cheering section and are so thankful for it.
This year we also met the most amazing woman and her family. And they have become a wonderful addition to our family. She has so generously brought us the gifts of hope and joy and excitement. We are so thankful for her and for her friendship and for all that she has done and all that she is doing to take such good care of our babies.
This is definitely a Thanksgiving to remember. And to think next Thanksgiving we’ll have two little turkeys of our own around the table… :)
This is the first year that I cooked a full Thanksgiving meal myself. Charlie and I have always been with family for the holiday, but this year we thought it wise to be a bit more frugal and instead of buying 2 sets of round-trip plane tickets (one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas) we chose to do one round-trip for Christmas, take a longer trip and spend half the time with my family and half the time with his. We definitely did miss everyone though!
The meal, however, turned out surprisingly good! I don’t consider myself to be completely clueless in the kitchen, but I haven’t ever cooked a turkey before, so I wasn’t exactly sure how I would do with that. I borrowed my mother’s recipe for marinating the turkey, seasoning and baking and it turned out quite good. We had a friend over too which was nice! We’ll be having leftovers for days though because I made so much. The downfall of having Thanksgiving at someone else’s house is you don’t have the leftovers – now we have tons and Charlie is certainly a happy camper about that! So he's thankful for everything above and for the "happy fridge" as he calls it :)
